Adaptation of the Muttenz Marathon 2021 concept individually
Dear friends of the Muttenz Marathon, dear running enthusiasts
The date of the Muttenz Marathon 2021 on 25 April 2021 is fast approaching. A little more than a month before the scheduled event, it is still not foreseeable whether sporting events with participant numbers of 500 or more will be allowed to take place on this date again. In order to organise the “real” Muttenz Marathon in the usual quality, we need planning certainty and, above all, sufficient lead time. After the Federal Council’s decision of 18 March 2021, precisely this lead time is no longer given and it is also foreseeable that no mass sports events of the size of the Muttenz Marathon will be allowed to take place at the end of April. As a result, we decided at our meeting today to offer the Muttenz Marathon in a different form and to come up with an attractive alternative concept.
The new concept
We have decided to offer an individual Muttenz Marathon 2021 on 25 April 2021. In these difficult times, we would like to offer all running enthusiasts at least the possibility of an individual running experience with proper timing by our partner yourtiming and a bit of a competition feeling. Of course, this will be done in compliance with the current hygiene rules and safety measures.
The new concept is that on 25 April 2021, timing mats will be available on the Margelacker school grounds from 08:00 in the morning until 18:00 in the evening (finish time). This will enable participants to individually run the signposted original routes, including timing. Everyone can start their run at the time of their choice. All they have to do is run across the starting line with their start number with integrated measuring chip and the time and their personal race begins. When they cross the finish line, the time they have run (or the intermediate time for the 1st round of the marathon) will be stopped again.
For access to the Margelacker school grounds and thus the start/finish area, online registration or the race number with measuring chip sent to you is required. There will be no late registration on site, only a pick-up stand for those numbers that could not be sent by us in time. In order to prevent crowding and to ensure a smooth run, all participants are asked to stay as short as possible on the start/finish area and to start their run immediately by crossing the timing mat.
Unfortunately, the children’s and schoolchildren’s run cannot take place
Unfortunately, the children’s and schoolchildren’s run has to be cancelled. We are unable to close or control the road crossing at Reichensteinerstrasse for the entire period and thus ensure the safety of the little runners. We are very sorry that we will not be able to offer the children and pupils this great experience, which they deserve.
Catering on the course
Food will be provided in cooperation with Sponser Sport Food. There will be a small refreshment stand at kilometres 7.2 and 15, 27.4 and 36.1 for the marathon and half marathon on the Geispel and at kilometre 10.7 and 31.8 for the marathon on the Schönmatt. Drinks, original bars and gels will be available there in compliance with hygiene and safety measures. At the finish we will give each participant a drink in the form of focus water and a bar. (Subject to change and will be communicated in due time)
Entry fees
We have set the entry fees for all running categories at CHF 15.00 for this hopefully unique Muttenz Marathon 2021 individual. On the one hand, we cover our own costs and on the other hand, we can give our helpers and their clubs a contribution for their help with the Muttenz Marathon into the club’s coffers.
